How Do Pool Cartridge Filters Work?
The job of a cartridge filter is to strip unwanted particles, oils and debris from your pool water. The filter cartridges work as part of a larger pool filter system. It is very important to keep your cartridges clean for higher efficiency thus keeping your pool filter cartridge clean not only helps keep your pool water clean, but also helps keep your cartridge filter working efficiently for years to come.
When & How to Clean Your Pool Filter Cartridges?
Pool filter cartridges should be cleaned around every six months on average or when your filter pressure gauge has increased about 8 to 12 PSI above the recommended starting pressure of your pool filter.
Cleaning your pool filter cartridge is quite easy. Firstly you need to turn off the filtration system and remove your pool filter cartridge. Also remove any large dirt or debris in it, then clean the filter cartridge with the necessary filter cleaning accessories, checking for tears, cracks or damage each time.
After you’ve successfully cleaned your pool filter cartridge, allow it to fully dry before inserting it back into the filter tank. If waiting for your filter to dry isn’t an option, consider keeping another pool filter cartridge replacement on hand, this way you’ll always have a clean, dry cartridge to use right away without any hassle.
When to Replace Your Pool Filter Cartridge?
On average, your pool filter cartridge should last around 2-4 years, depending on the workload demand placed on it. A damaged filter can adversely affect the overall performance of your filter and subsequently affect how clean your pool is. Here are some noticeable signs to take note of so that you know when the right time is to replace your pool filter cartridge:
a) If your filter cartridge is worn or damaged in any way (can include broken end caps, fraying pleats, or the overall degrading of material) we recommend replacing it immediately.
b) If the cartridge has stains that do not come out with cleaning, it means your filter is saturated with oils and should be replaced as soon as possible.
We, at My Online Pool Shop, carry a variety of top-quality pool filter cartridges for instant replacement; also at discounted prices which you’ll simply love!
